Hamish is home!

Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Day of Unity

June 30th, 2009

I’m back! How’s everybody doing out there? Very well, I hope!

Yesterday was our mission’s “Day of Unity” — the *whole* mission met for games, an AWESOME talent show, some talks from our mission president and leadership, and finally the long awaited transfer call outs, which they did from the pulpit of the chapel. (As opposed to calling us in our areas). Needless to say, it was REALLY cool. I had a wonderful day, and I got to meet a ton of elders. The talents were likewise awesome. I think we’ll get a DVD of it at some point. Oh, by the way, If anyone out there in Montreal knows where Elder Alldredge (I think that’s how you spell it) is serving there, let him know that Elder Sevy from the Sacramento mission says “Hi!” I met him yesterday at the activity.

So, you’re probably on the edge of your seat now, right? Wondering “So, what about YOU Elder Macpherson? Are you getting transferred? What about your Dad Elder Groshong?” … Well! I’m glad you asked my dear friends. Allow me to explain. *Ahem*

I’m being transferred! Yup, by tomorrow morning I’ll be in my new area. Laguna Creek 1st and 2nd wards, down in what’s called just the “Sacramento” Zone. Though most people would say I’m in the “Elk Grove” area. My new companion will be Elder Robinson. He’s from South Jordan Utah (well, I had to get one from Utah SOME time… haha). He “dies” this transfer, that is to say, he’s on his last 6 week now. It seems I have the privilege of “killing” him, as they say… haha. Well really I think I’ll be working hard to keep him from being “Trunky”, as the nearly dead missionaries are prone to be. I hope you’ll all pray for me in my efforts.

As for my companion, and dear trainer, Elder Groshong. He’s staying here in Hurley Ward to be the new District Leader. I’m really going to miss him! *sniff*

Well, it’s triple digits hot here… frequently. But I think I’ve talked about that enough… oh and I’ll be on bike with Elder Robinson too… apparently he *just* lost his car… *sigh* … forever consigned it seems. :P — Well what doesn’t kill ya makes you stronger!

Canada day is soon. So Happy Canada day to all my friends, Canadian or not! We’ll have the 4th of July off for the whole day. So look forward to another post from me then. (Since the following Monday will NOT be a pday).

Oh and lastly. If any of you wonderful missionaries who have left this mission recently are reading this, hello! Especially to Elder Waters (formerly the assistant to the president) and Sister McCleve (the coolest sister in East-Sac! ;P) — Y’all better write me! =D

Well, my time is up for today. I love you all. Enjoy this next week to the fullest!

Sincerely,
Elder Macpherson
