Hamish is home!

Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Till we meet again,

Happy Father’s Day!

June 22nd, 2009

Hello again to all my wonderful readers. I’m happy to be here again to let you all know how things are moving along in East-Sac!

First off, I want to wish a happy (though slightly belated) father’s day to all the dads who are reading this. I hope yours was an enjoyable one. I also want to publicly thank my own dad for being the great father, and good example that he is to me. I hope we can all show a little more appreciation to our fathers, father figures in our lives, and of course, our Father in heaven.

While I’m at it, I might as well wish you all you “Quebecers” a great St. Jean-Baptiste day too, since that will be coming along this Wednesday! Celebrate for me, okay?

Things here in East-Sac have been going well. Me and Elder Groshong are now in the 6th week of this transfer, and so “the end is near” so to speak. I’m fairly certain he’ll be transferred after this week, and I’ll likely remain here with a new companion for another transfer or two. But of course, only time will tell us what’s *really* going to happen, so y’all will just have to stay tuned on that one, mmkay?

So, I hear from several of my “sources” that my awesome friend Jason Glowa just received his mission call to Fresno, California. That’s not too far from me at all really. How awesome! And Spanish speaking to boot. I hope you’re reading this bro, and I hope you know I’m overjoyed for you. (You should write me an email some time, gimme some details!)

Also big thanks to the emails from Newton and Andrew. You don’t know each other, but it was really great to catchup with both of you. I don’t have a lot of time to respond to your emails, but I’ll see if I can’t snail mail you some time (send me your addresses if you can!) That goes for anyone else too.

The emailing/pday schedule will be weird next week. Next Monday is a mission-wide talent show. THAT is going to be fun. Elder Groshong is practicing to play and sing along to his cool arrangement of “Come Thou Fount” on guitar. He was picked to represent our zone in the show. Anywho, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to send n’ receive emails in on that day. A heads up to y’all — just in case.

This week was a little tougher, but we’re still teaching a lot of awesome people. A few are preparing to be baptized in July. So assuming I stay I’ll be here for those (of course if I DID get transferred, I would easily get permission to come back for them).

Oh and as far as weather goes, well I think Sac-town is starting to show it’s TRUE heat to me. I felt like someone accidentally hit the “High” switch on the sun on Thursday. Thankfully that was the day for our interviews with President Jardine, so we weren’t outside as much as usual. *phew!*

Oh and before I head, I want to thank the Wongs for the awesome card he sent me with all the missionaries from our stake on it. All the other Elders and Sisters who saw it thought it was really cool too! It’s fantastic to see so many serving the Lord out of the Montreal Quebec Mount Royal stake!

Well, it’s time to grab my stuff and go! I love you all, especially if you write me! (*hint hint*) Okay, even if you DON’T write me… :P

Love,
Elder Macpherson
