Just another WordPress weblog

Hamish is home!

Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Till we meet again,

Twenty is the new Nineteen

July 27th, 2009

So, I’m still alive here in Laguna Creek. This last week was actually a lot cooler than the one before (which as you, the astute reader, will recall was almost the death of me) – and all the time people are saying “Gee, this is mild for this time of year…” now THAT is crazy to hear.

Well, enough about the weather, I mean you can only talk about that for so long before it gets old. And boy, I think it’s pretty old now! SO what do I talk about then? Well maybe… hmm, yes… I’ll talk about my 20th birthday! What a wonderful day that was. I’m still running of the “high” from it. So, let me take this chance to thank all you cool people who wrote me emails, letters, or *gasp* even sent a package! (Mhhm, I got a few of those… you know who you are!). So yeah, your favorite Elder is no longer a teenager, isn’t that weird? He thinks so too. But then he doesn’t feel that different.

So yeah, the birthday was great! The Hasegawas gave me not one, but TWO gifts (a must for the missionary companionships). They were all nice and wrapped in this cool wrapping paper, and well, to be honest… they were shaped like rolls of toilet paper! And you know that’s funny because they WERE rolls of toilet paper… what a great gift! *chuckle* — I think we must have looked really funny biking home with toilet paper in hand. But I guess that’s part of being a missionary… or something, hehe. Seriously though, the Hasegawas are the best. Also props to all the other awesome members here in Laguna who made that day special for me; the Ostlers with their sweet cake, and the water guns they bought for me and Elder Robinson!

So, what about that bike seat that got stolen last week, you ask? Well, glad you mentioned it! You see, I had a member drive us to a nearby bike shop the other day and we FINALLY got the neck/part/thing that I needed, and after a bit of monkeying around I got my lovely bike back in order with a brand new seat. So now I’m back… in black! (Since the seat is black… get it? Okay, lame… I know)

Yeah, the week was hecka awesome! Seemed to go by really fast though, again… we had our interviews with President Jardine on Thursday. I love him so much! He’s got to be one of the coolest mission presidents in the world… and you can tell he really loves all of his missionaries.

Well, I must be off. The time is far spent. Till next week, stay cool, and be yourself.

Love,
Elder Macpherson
