Hamish is home!

Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Till we meet again,

Elder Macpherson: Still Alive

August 17th, 2009

So did you miss me? Well, I’m back! Sorry for the long wait. Things have been… yes, yet AGAIN, crazy here in Laguna Creek. The good news is though, I’m still alive, and I have some good news and fun stories!

So first off, the weather. It’s been better. Way better. So I haven’t melted this last transfer, so yeah, that’s always a good thing! Especially since we’re still on bikes. But yes, thank you for all your many prayers on my behalf… we’re only a month away from the slightly cooler weather. And time is flying.

Okay, so two cool things happened this last weekend. And as my time is limited, I’ll be quick. First off I have a new companion! His name is Elder Kilman and he’s from Virginia. We’ve only been together for less than a week, but he’s pretty cool. He’s done Karate for like 10 years, and he’s bought a LOT of knives on his mission. Believe me, I’ve seen them. Haha.

So, if I have a new companion, then you must be wondering, where (in the world) is Elder Robinson? Well, he went home! He finally made it home, and then… that same day he packed up with his family and came back here to Sacramento! Yes, that fast. (Well he was released) — it was really weird to see him and his family here. But we had a good time, and it was really nice to meet his family. I hope he’ll still write me with his busy life back home… haha. *wink* Josh Robinson! *wink*

Okay, a) a new companion, and b) Elder Josh Robinson is home, and finally, a baptism! Yes this last weekend we had our first baptism in this area, in fact that was the big reason Josh came back. It was the baptism of Courtney. A really cool guy we’ve been teaching for a while. He was baptized at the “Seasons” building not far from our house on Saturday at 7pm! The Marshallese ward was having a party in the gym next door… making SO much noise with music and all… I was worried that it would disrupt the service… but then a miracle happened, and the power went OUT! No music or noise for the whole service! (fortunately we could open the window blinds for a “bit” of light) — and when the baptism was over, the power came back not long after.

Alright, love you all, gotta run now! Someone tell Phil Catudal to write me, I miss that boy, and I’d love to hear from him!

Love,
Elder Macpherson
