Hamish is home!

Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Bikers for Jesus

September 14th, 2009

Sometimes I think that should be our nicknames here in the mission. Bikers for Jesus. But then I don’t know if that would be the best idea… wouldn’t want people to think we’re some sort of gang. Well, it sounded cool to me!

This last week was good. Just good, though. Not bad. Not amazing. But just… good. We had an impromptu Zone Meeting on Tuesday. The Zone Leaders brought us all together to tell us that we, as a zone, need to work harder. We’re not fulfilling out potential right now, and we can all do better. That includes the Zone Leaders themselves. It was, needless to say, a very humbling & inspiring meeting. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks.

Along the same lines, the Zone Leaders are now giving all of us each companionship’s End of Week numbers. So we can see how we’re all doing as a zone each week. It’s an interesting idea… and it definitely makes me more motivated to work harder. Especially when you see what everyone else is doing.

We’ve got some good potential people we want to work with this week. I’m praying that these people will become solid people that we can teach and bring closer to Christ. We’re doing practice lessons at members homes a lot too. So we keep ourselves busy and our teaching skills sharp.

Fall is coming soon. But slower here. It’s still warm… though it should be cooling more by October.

Thanks to the Kirkland YWs for the letters they sent! It was good to hear from y’all. Well, that’s all I can think of for this week. This coming week is the last one in the transfer. So, as you’ll remember next pday will be on Tuesday instead of Monday. Take care everyone. Till next time!
