Hamish is home!

Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Till we meet again,

What goes down, must come up

October 12th, 2009

Hello readers, newcomers and faithful subscribers alike, welcome to the life of Elder Hamish Macpherson, coming to you live from Sacramento California. This last week’s weather was mostly sunny, with an overall much cooler crispness in the air, which was very much enjoyed by yours truly. The coming week’s forecast is cloudy… with a very good chance of rain. According to the Sacramento Spirit, our weekly email newsletter:

The weather report for this coming week is for rain, with heavy rains on Tuesday.  Coupled with it getting dark earlier (and Daylight Savings ends on November 1), it is important to prepare for this season and to be safe on our bicycles.

Great. Just when you think you’ve escaped the heat, you get this. Oh well. I’m sure I’ll get through it just fine. Pray for drought, will you? Heh heh.

Well, the weather is what it is. I’m still excited about the work here. We had a zone  blitz yesterday in our area and we got 10 return appointments with people all over! I went tracting with one of our Zone Leaders, Elder Weidler. He’s from Long Island, NY, closer to my neck of the woods. He’s a really nice guy, has one of the deepest voices of any missionary I know, haha, but it sounds kind of like the voice over voice for movie trailers.

Halloween is coming up in a few weeks. We have to be back in our appartment at 6pm on Halloween night. No trick or treating for us! The ward is having a Trunk or Treat the night before though, so that should be really fun. That’s coupled with a chili cook off that we’re the judges for. Needless to say, me and Elder Zimmerman are excited for that! (We’ve decided to dressup as missionaries, what do you think?)

Speaking of Halloween, I’ve got nothing against people sending me candy. *cough* hint *cough*

Well. I’ll be back here again next week. Hopefully not any more “wet” than I am now. Till next time!

Love,
Elder Macpherson
