Happy (American) Thanksgiving!
November 26th, 2009
Well, it’s a big day today for everyone here in the United States of America. It’s Thanksgiving! Yeah, you know, that holiday that we Canadians all celebrated like a month ago? Yeah, that’s it — But I’m excited, this is the first time for me in this country & in the mission! So Happy Thanksgiving to all, and in the spirit of the Holiday, I’d like to mention some things I’m thankful for;
- My Family
You know that song that says “‘Cuz you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone…”? That’s something I’ve come to feel more and more as I’ve been away from home & family. I love them, I miss them, and I guess I’ve learned to appreciate them more and more. Thanks Mom and Dad! - My Friends
Y’all are great. Seriously. Thanks for all your emails, letters, pictures, packages, good news, bad news, no news, and whatever else you’ve said or sent — wether I met you on my mission or back home, thanks for being a part of my life! - Being a Missionary
This is the experience of a lifetime. I know I’ll never regret it or forget it. It has it’s ups and downs, highs and lows, calm days, and fierce storms, but through all of it, I know I’ll come out better. - Members that feed us!
We’re at the Day’s house today for Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for them, and all the other people that graciously feed us… every day! Mmmmm, yummy food. - Jesus Christ
Maybe it’s cliche to end with this. But it’s true. I am more thankful for my Saviour at this time now than any other time of my life. I love him, and I’m SO thankful for his atoning sacrifice that can make all that is wrong with life right.
Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life. — 3 Nephi 5:13
Well, I don’t want to take too much more time to write. But I will give you all an update on the work here. Firstly, Elder Zimmerman came back, and we are now a threesome, with me and Elder Bellingham. It’s been that way since last Monday in fact. So over a week now. He had an MRI last week too. The results aren’t good. Several bulging disks in his back, he might have to go home for surgery if he can’t heal up soon. I’ll keep you updated.
The weather is warm! SO warm for November. It’s crazy. No snow, it’s gonna be weird for Christmas….
Lastly, we’re teaching! We have some really exciting investigators right now. One older couple in particular who we’re really excited about. They basically found us, and want to join the church. They came last sunday and loved it, they felt really welcome.
Well, that’s all for this week! I’ll be back with more info this coming Monday (back to regular pday schedule). Take care!
Love,
Elder Macpherson
