Joy to the World
December 7th, 2009
Hey Everyone! I’m happy to be back here writing to you today. I hope you all had a good week, wherever you are in the world. We’ve had some ups and downs this week, but we’re making it through just fine.
First off, all three of us (Me, Elder Bellingham, and Elder Zimmerman) are still together and we’re still working with that sweet couple, The Parkers, that I mentioned last week. They’re setup for baptism this coming Saturday, so we’re all really excited about that. We’ve gotten really close with them in the last few weeks, and they’ve said that they want to stay in touch and meet our families after our mission’s. That’s one thing that I love about being a missionary… the friendships that you make out here are ones that will last forever.
Aside from that though, we’ve definitely been working to find more people to teach (Remember that Elevator Effect? Yeah, we want to avoid that.). That seems to be the constant battle, right? And with the state of Elder Zimmerman’s back, it’s hard to get out sometimes. Our best bet is to find a member who can watch him for a few hours while we go out and work. Fortunately we have some members that are very willing to help out there… and then of course the end of this transfer is nearing, and we’re all pretty certain he will be transferred, leaving me and Elder Bellingham here. But hey, only time can tell that.
The office was having some issues forwarding our mail within the last week or so, but one of the other Elders in our apartment was nearby for a doctor’s appointment so he went and picked it all up. Thanks for the Christmas packages Grandma Snyder! Oh, and I must thank my dear sister Jasmine for the lovely postcard from Hawaii, so pretty and warm looking. :)
Speaking of which… it’s actually pretty cold here right now. Some parts of Sacramento (incl. the Capitol Buildings) even got an inch or two of SNOW. Can you believe it? I can’t! I mean, can you remember me complaining about the heat this past summer? This is a complete turn around, but hey it makes me feel more at home, so I can’t complain.
Well, remember, all I want for christmas is lots of letters, dark & conservative ties, and pictures of my family, and well… whatever else really…
Oh by the way, I hope you all got to see the 1st Presidency Fireside yesterday. We watched it at the Parker’s house, it was awesome! I love to hear the inspired leaders of the church speak, and the Choir was beautiful as well.
Stay warm my friends, till next week.
