Leadership
March 9th, 2010
I’ve got 25 minutes left on this library computer. Let’s make it count! *Ahem* … Welcome back everyone! It’s good to have you here on my blog (or perhaps reading via your email). I hope you’ll enjoy this week’s summary. I’m glad to be back here to report.
Even as the last week of the transfer things still went pretty well. On Wednesday we had a day of finding new people to teach. We shortened lunch, cancelled dinners, and worked as hard as we could. Me and Elder Deason were blessed to find 3 new people that day! Exciting times! The zone altogether added over 20 people in this last week. Unfortunately the people we found are proving hard to contact.
There’s a nice family living in this area whose daughter was taught, and then baptized last year; her name is Kayla, and she’s about 15 (same age as Brianna). Kayla’s family was always very supportive, but never showed too much interest until recently, when Kayla’s younger brother Tommy asked about being baptized. We had the oppurtunity this last week to teach Tommy and his dad Barry (Kayla and Mom were sick) at the home of one of the ward members that they know very well. It went great! We’re hoping to set up another appointment soon, and get the whole family involved. More an that as it develops.
The zone broke it’s record of baptisms in February. We had 9 (the record was 8) — and so as is the tradition; President and Sister Jardine took us out to eat lunch at In-N-Out. It was lots of fun. They have some great burgers and shakes there.
The bed bugs are… gone! At least I think they are. We had an exterminator come in, plus I ditched my mattress. So far I’ve been clear for a week. I think that’s a good sign.
Last but not least, transfer calls! Since we’re in the southernmost stake (Manteca) of the mission, we get our calls last. President Jardine starts in the northern zones, around 4:30pm. We didn’t get ours until 10:30pm. Crazy, eh? … And so, what’s the verdict you ask? Well, me and Elder Deason are staying together for another transfer, and President Jardine has assigned me to be the District Leader for the Tracy District, to take the place of the homeward bound Elder Takahashi (he will be missed!) — so yup, there you go! I’m excited and maybe a little nervous. But It’ll be fun. I get to do baptism interviews, missionary training at meetings, nightly followups, and all that fun stuff. Righteous.
Keep me in your prayers, I’ll catch you all next week.
