Thank you everyone for following me on my two-year missionary adventure in Sacramento California. This site will remain online forever; as a reminder of the days I spent in the service of God. A reminder of the sad, happy, wet, dry, sweet, painful and the outright crazy. But most of all, a reminder of the love God has for his children. If you're curious what I'm up to these days, please visit my personal site.

Till we meet again,

Hello everyone! Elder Macpherson here, reporting from the Cal-Sac Mission Office in Fair Oaks, California. How’s everyone doing today? I just wanted to send a quick update to let y’all know things are going just dandy out here. I’m starting to get the hang of all these office responsibilities that I have, Elder Collett is training me well. This last week was the week of Zone Conferences. Now, as a regular missionary, you only go to one, but if you’re an Assistant or Office Elder (that’s me!) then you go to all three, since we setup the projector and sound system, etc. for President Jardine’s training. It’s actually a ton of fun though, I was able to hear President Jardine speak three times on the same subjects (… so I have some awesome notes!) Seeing all the great missionaries in this mission is just another perk, I was able to have a good chat with my boy Elder Bellingham when we were in the Central Zones, we talked about the good (and crazy) times in Brighton Ward, and also about some of the people we taught who are going through tough times. On the flip-side It was great to talk to the missionaries in my birth ward, Hurley. It sounds like all of the people we taught there are still doing great!

So going back to doing computer stuff has been… weird. Though I’m starting to remember more of the things that I haven’t used in over a year. It’s kind of like riding a bike; you always know how, you just get a little rusty after long breaks. And I’m definitely rusty.

It was Birthday weekend here in the office this last weekend. Elder Collett, both the Assistants, and Sis. Jardine had their birthdays within the last 10 days or so. So naturally we had a lot of fun, with cakes, candies, and eating out. We all ate at a nice, and rather expensive, seafood restaurant for Sis. Jardine’s birthday evening. I had some delicious Alaskan Halibut Fish N’ Chips! So yeah, It’s hard work in the office, but there are some great perks.

We taught Cy twice this week, reading some choice passages from the Book of Mormon with her. She’s doing great. In fact, she’s in Disneyland right now with her friend Tori and her family. I’m kind of jealous. People here go to Disneyland all the time. I’ll definitely be going when I come back to visit.

We also taught another girl named Ashley this week. She’s was taught a few times before I came in — but not a lot. She’s been coming to institute for a good while, which she loves, then she started coming to church, and within the last month or so we found out and started teaching her (along with her member boyfriend, Daniel.) It’d been a while since we’d had any contact with her, but she texted us not too long ago, and we setup an appointment for later last week. The appointment went great! In fact, as we talked (and applied some things we learned at Zone Conference) she told us how she had recognized an answer to her prayers… and so we invited her to be baptized on the 29th of May, and she accepted! We’re really excited, and so is she.

By the way: I called this post “Noteworthy” because it’s the name of an awesome all-girls Acapella group I’ve been listening to lately. Elder Collett introduced me to them, and I met the mother of two of the girls, Sis. Jensen, and her daughter Katie who is in the group, when me and Elder Collett went to Elk Grove the other day (he served in their ward last year). I’m assuming all of them are members, but yeah… I now have a signed CD and poster! Look ‘em up!

Well, It’s a little more predictable being an Office Elder, but we’re still being blessed for our work. I’m so grateful for that. In addition to the usual stuff, we’re also gearing up for Day of Unity 2010. Which will be in just a couple of weeks. As you’ll remember it was a huge hit last year, and so the mission has decided to do it again. That means a lot of work for yours truly in the office! Well, I best be going! Keep the letters and emails coming people. I get mail quicker now because I’m at the office, where all mission mail goes first. You wouldn’t believe how many letters and packages come in on a daily basis! It definitely keeps our receptionist Sis. Palmer busy forwarding it all. You can also tell who has girlfriends writing them… haha. Till next time!
